Mermayde's Dawn

An author recently commissioned this mosaic.  This is the view from her home at sunrise, which often has beautiful pink mackerel skies.  She asked to include a blonde mermaid on the rocks, as her granddaughter plays on the rocks, reminding her of a little mermaid.  As the mosaic progressed, she asked to have the mermaid's arms raised, as though the mermaid is beckoning the sun to rise.  The mermaid's tail is comprised of iridescent glass, and her crown is made of Swarovski Crystals and Sterling Silver.  The client opted for the Middle English spelling of Mermayde.  It measures 16" x 24".
