Texas Birds by Kathryn Welch

Custom-made for a client's very special treehouse, this large panel measures 24"x18" and features three species of common Texas birds: the tufted titmouse, cardinal, and red-headed woodpecker.  Using a clear seedy background, each bird is perched on a limb using lead and solder "flooded" into the space.  This gives the branches a rough, life-like texture.  The piece is framed in zinc, with twisted lead accenting the border.  Wire and copper overlays add depth and details. Lots of special touches in this piece!
