3 Fishes In The Garden Ball

Would you believe this garden ball started from a balloon? 1st view is in the snow ready to be put in the garden; remaining views are winter in-house versions. 2nd view is two fish looking like a face; 3rd view is grey/beige fish; 4th view is green fish; 5th view is red fish. Soon, the Fish Ball will be put back on its wrought iron stand to go outside for Spring!  This was my first try at 3-dimensional glass project. Quite different approaches from flat stained glass (25+ years) and large scale mosaics. Small pieces on curved surfaces close together with little or no grout lines are a challege.  Covered 10" balloon with 3 layers of fiberglass mesh and thinset. Used cut stained glass pieces & glass nuggets, set with thinset & GE silicone & grout.  Loved doing it! Many projects ahead.
