Multiple layers of Bullseye glass were laid out as shown in the last image and taken up to 1700 degrees. Careful raking while molten developed an inital flow texture. It has been through multiple firings that enhance the internal texture forming at the edges of the lines of overlaying clear glass. Although opaque browns, blues and greens dominate the color palette, what thrills me is how the clear overlay has developed such a strong flow pattern while the solid opaque underlying white layer recedes. It has been fully annealed, edges finished and feet added so it will not scratch tables, counters, etc when in use.
These raked pieces require a significant investment of time for thoughtful layout, and a full day to devote the careful hours needed to take a piece up to temperature, rake it briefly (REALLY HOT!), have the piece get back up to temperature, rake it more, rake, heat, repeat....
