4 loves
Description:
This is an Alaskan themed 4 sided lampshade featuring the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) that I did to commemorate and remember the 36 years I spent up there with my late husband. He passed away this past summer and I was having a difficult time dealing with that situation. The Hospice counselor kept suggesting that I should start going to grief counseling sessions but the thought of bearing my soul to strangers did not really appeal to me. This project was my way of working through my grief in my own way. It took me almost 4 months to complete but I am now doing much better because of it and I have a beautiful lampshade that revives all the great memories of our life up there every time I look at it. My only regret is that he never got to see it. I have been doing stained glass for approximately 4 years now but this is my first ever 3D project. The trees and animals are all handcrafted foil overlays that I created. Foil overlays are one of my favorite things to make.
Material used:
- Stained glass
- solder
- copper foil
- Pebeo Vitrea 160 paints
- lampshade parts
- lamp base
- 1/8” zinc frame
- 14 gauge twisted wire

What beautiful work. I would love to learn how to do the overlays. My daughter and her husband just purchased a house in Eagle River Alaska, I would love to do stain glass for their new home.
