Pedro's Siesta

 This 3-dimensional mosaic sculpture started out as a terra cotta garden ornament.  It stands about one foot high.  I dressed him up with handcut glass tiles in ambers and blues.  His "battered" hat is done in shades of brown and the band was created with glass nuggets, cut in half.  Four colors of grout were used.  

The serape was done on a backer board substrate which was "sculpted" with thinset to create humps and valleys to give it a slightly rumpled look. Each of the colored stripes was done in a different pattern.  The fringe was created with sea spines and thinset.
