Throughout history, stained glass has primarily been found in places of worship. In the late 1800‘s, Louis Comfort Tiffany’s architectural influence brought this beautiful artistic medium into the private domain of the home in the form of windows, doors and lamps. Today, stained glass is used in a multitude of creative applications, to include mosaics, jewelry and three-dimensional functional art.
During the design process, light source, whether sunlight, electric light bulb or natural flame, plays an important role in the glass selection. When creating a three-dimensional piece, it is essential that color and texture factor into the way in which it interacts with the source.
