‘59 Caddy Coupe DeVille

Custom stained glass mosaic of a 1959 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.  This piece is 24” x 36” (6 sf total) and took 158 hours to complete.  Each piece of glass was hand cut using a carbide cutter.  The shape of each distinct piece of glass was determined as the piece was built out.  There was no pattern used for glass shapes, placement or flow.  The stained glass was glued down to cabinet grade plywood and then grouted.  My biggest challenge on this piece was the bullets in the bumper.  I finally decided to form them as a cylinder.  My favorite part of this piece is the headliner; the 3D effect.  Some of the glass used included a lot of Van Gogh, regular mirror, Oceanside opal, MLW Vivid mirror, Wissmach black opal luminescent and Bullseye black opal rainbow iridescent.
