Fused Glass Triangular Serving Tray with Stacked Shapes

Description:

Inspired by an abstract painting, I layered squares and rectangles of various colors atop a white glass base and full fused it together.  Instead of slumping it as is, I squared off the edges with a wet grinder, added a black triangular base, turned it upside down and full fused it a second time with the sides dammed.  The relay switch decided to act up for the first time in my kiln, so my full fuse ended up being somewhere over 1500 degrees, which turned out to be perfect with this piece because it melted beautifully into the triangular dam...phewww!  I had checked on it shortly after the firing was aborted and immediately realized that I needed to give it a new schedule that would take it down to an anneal temperature before it cooled completely.  Again, phewww!  I was able to put it directly into my triangle mold without any more cold working and (after replacing the relay) I gave it a nice, triangular slump!  I should probably just keep this one ??
