Description:
This 6" x 8" stained glass mosaic was made to celebrate the annual migration of Swifts on their southern journey. My son-in-law John Wettroth, invented a digital bird calling device to invite the swifts to enter the chimneys for a rest on their quests. The North Carolina Audubon Society built/restored a chimney to aid the birds' travels and used the device. Civilization has encroached on the number of available chimneys, thus new resting places are needed. In the evenings, the swifts hear the sound, circle around the chimneys and hang on the inside walls before they carry on their journeys. The mosaic is a thank you to John for his work.
