I pulled murrine cane using a vitrigraph kiln and then cut the cane into small murrine. I then assembled the murrine on a kiln shelf, creating a loose concentric circle design with the various color patterns that were produced, and then fused them together. After coldworking the piece to a more balanced circle, the piece was slumped using a shallow bowl mold. The bowl has a 10.5-inch diameter. I chose the colors because they reminded me of the ocean, and the murrine made me think of bubbles, thus the name "Bubble Blue." I learned this process from Roy at Delphi and am grateful for his incredible teaching skills. I love putting this piece on a stand in the window and seeing the beautiful colors produced when the sun shines through it.
