Harvest Time - Grape Vine Light

Harvest Time is easily one of my favorite works to date.  It is the most intricate stained glass work I have ever done with about 300 individual pieces of cut glass plus all of the jewel grapes.

What makes the grapes really special is that they are raised from the rest of the piece.

The stained glass on Harvest Time stands 28" inches tall and is a half cylinder, instead of a flat panel.  This design allows me to illuminate the piece from behind so it can be hung on a wall instead of a window.  This stained glass piece is lighted from behind with a LED rope light, which is rated for 100,000 hours and super energy effiicient.

The wood frame for this is made of cedar with a decorative molding on the sides.  The frame has a light stain and then coated with 2 coats of hand rubbed poly to give it a special weathered look that reminds me of a vineyard.
