Description:
This piece was made using a clear, rectangular glass vase as the substrate, my first attempt at a dimensional mosaic project. I used Weldbond glue to affix the handcut glass to the vase, gluing glass pieces to one side of the vase at a time and letting each side dry completely, then moving on to another side. It was tricky to grout since that had to be done all at once. I placed the vase upside down on a block of styrofoam so I could rotate the styrofoam rather than trying to handle the vase when applying the grout. Then I turned the vase right side up to apply the grout along the top lip of the vase. A small amount of yellow grout colorant was mixed with white grout for a off-white look.
