Fused Glass "House on Fire" Indian Ruin

0 loves
Description:

This is built from many layers.  The base layer is done in high fire glass.enamels, then I added thin sheet and powders and frits to the lower section to show the pieces of rock laying on the lower part of the ruin.   The "fire" is multiple layers of powders and fine frit and tack fusing to retain the rougher look of the upper rock formation...and it took a while and a number of firings to get just the texture I wanted but I'm prety happy with it now.  It was hard to balance wanting the walls to be smoother as they receded (and the floor too)....but keep the actual look and texture on the roof part....but this is quite close to the actual ruin.  This Anasazi ruin is in SE Utah, west of Blanding...and the "roof" is a large rock formation which hangs over the rooms....but in the afternoon sun.....the streaks on the upper rocks look just like flames.  This piece is  11 x 14 inches.
