This portrait of a woman with Flowers examines the lack of identity of the person when only the superficial is examined. What do we truly know about a person beyond what they look like? Comments of wow you're so skinny, or that dress is amazing, tells the on looker that they are pleased by the outward appearance of someone. It does not divulge anything about how the person you are looking at feels. The facial features were intentionally left out of this portrait to leave it ambiguous as to not give clues on how the woman was feeling, or thinking. Without expression she remains a pretty object hung on a wall.
