Description:
I designed an outdoor public art piece using glass tile and stained glass over a fiberglass mold. This was my first time working with glass and mosaic work. The bench size is approximately 41/2 'wide by 5' height by 3' deep.
The design for this bench is a reinterpretation of the famous " Tree of Life" painted by Gustov Klimt in 1909.Influenced by the European avant-garde movements, Klimt created richly decorative surfaces with ornate patterns , glittery gold and jewel tones. The tree has become a symbol for strength, wisdom, redemption, friendship , bounty and encouragement. Laying the groundwork for Art Deco and Modernism, Klimt's creative influence can still be seen in today's art, decoration and jewelry.
