Singing the Blues

Singing the Blues is a fused glass artwork featuring two beloved songbirds, a vibrant blue jay and a gentle bluebird, perched together on the same branch. Though each bird has its own distinct personality and shades of blue, they share a quiet moment in harmony, celebrating companionship, contrast, and the beauty found in nature.

Created from hand-cut glass and layers of crushed glass (frit), the piece is kiln-fired to permanently fuse the individual elements into a single work of art. The rich textures, luminous colors, and fractured glass details reflect David Howard’s signature Fractured & Fused: Broken & Beautiful style, where separate pieces come together to create something stronger and more beautiful than they were alone.
