Pros : Bevels...especially these clusters come out beautifully.
Cons : The pieces didn't quite fit as well as I expected. Had I cut these designs myself, and been this far off, I'd have redone the piece. However...I know some clusters are cut better than others, and..it ended up turning out great.
Other Thoughts : I made this as a wedding gift with ruby red cathedral glass to match their decor. (I'll try to post a photo) The most helpful things I think were (1) be sure to print out the image from this page as a starting point/pattern since one did not come with it (2) lay it out of course, but also definitely foil and tack it ...then draw/design the background around it. I'd intended to use black patina but decided to go with leaving it silver. Copper would've also been beautiful.

Pros : I made this piece for a customer who wanted to hang it in her kitchen window. She had recently had a fire in her home and wanted something for good luck. Thanks for the pattern because it would have been hard to lay out without it; however, it fit nicely. I have since prepared a second one and it was nicely cut and fit well also.
Cons : Because I intended this to be a piece to hang as is--without extra glass--it was slightly pliable. I intend to fill in the spaces for the next projects I have which should allow for more support.
Other Thoughts : I foiled this in copper backed foil because for some reason it works the best to hold. I didn't fill in the empty spaces and I placed two hooks at the first intersection at the top of the heart where it meets the inner pointed piece and added a small link chain to hang it. I used copper patina and it really looks great.

Pros : I really like these bevel clusters, especially this one. They are well made and fun to assemble.
Cons : I had trouble with the first bevel clusters I put together. Laying the cluster out, and then fitting the pieces of glass into the open spots is quite a challenge. My solution to this is to foil the bevels, and just tack them together with a spot of solder. Then they stay in the proper shape while you fit the inside pieces.
Other Thoughts : I put this together for my wife-it turned out great. I made a square "frame" with granite and zipper dichroics. Then I used red and greens for the inside pieces except for the ones closest to the center. For those I used dichroic sheet of glass. I will post a picture in my gallery for anyone interested.
