Lord Ganesha was a gift for a friend on her 40th Birthday. We both love the symbolism and pageantry that are represented by this beloved Hindi idol. I had had given my friend her choice of subjects for a glass piece, thinking she would choose a dragonfly, and it would be a smallish, quickly completed piece... but no, she shouted out "Ganesha" immediately. after adjusting to the idea, I dived into the project with relish. I drew the pattern from a rubbing of a sgriffito tile i purchased years ago. i refined the lines, scanned it and enlarged it. did that a couple more times until i had a workable pattern. I used a Gemini Taurus ring saw for the more difficult cuts. Oh, and I want to give a plug to GelBits; they are great! I used Pebeo Vitrea 160 paints for the eyes, henna, and scroll work on the dias, which i drew by hand and traced on, using the paints. the entire piece took about 5-6 months with my work schedule then. the finished size is 19x26. you can see more of my work at www.glasswench.com

Love the colors that you used throughout the whole panel! Allot of people are terrible at putting colors together, but you enhanced all the colors very professionally. Great job!
