Blue Admiral Butterfly Stained Glass Mosaic Panel

This lovely blue butterfly is actually called a red spotted purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis astyanax). It is a gorgeous common blue  butterfly with orange and white spots that can be seen in the Eastern US and Ontario, Canada. 

       This handmade glass mosaic panel features a beautiful butterfly visiting an orangey-yellow black eyed susan blossom. The mosaic is in a recycled wooden frame, and has been grouted using an alabaster coloured grout, and has been hand highlighted with black paint to provide definition of the image. The mosaic has been sealed and signed. 

        By using glass-on-glass techniques with the coloured glass shards I am able to achieve a beautiful transparency of stained glass with the detail of a mosaic.  

The panel measures  13 1/2" wide by 16 1/2" long.
