Description:
While recovering from knee surgery I couldn't cut or grind glass, so I was having glass withdrawals. To overcome that, I made a series of Tiffany-style suncatchers using glass nuggets, simple cast or precut glass pieces, bevels, and geometric shaped scrap glass. The series was inspired by and meant to benefit a variety of dog rescue group I support. While the series consists of 20 pieces, these 5 are representative. As shown, #3 was created for Podenco Friends, the Spanish group that rescued my two adopted podencos as puppies from the dangers faced by abandoned dogs; #11 was made for an auction to save Pandora, a Podenco in a Spanish kill station; #17 will help fund 112 Carlotta Galgos, a hard-working rescue in Spain that believes Love Never Fails; #8 was designed for Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions, a group that rehabilitates and rehomes retired greyhound racers and other rescues; and #10 was inspired by Baas Galgo Rescue, the group that saved my adopted Spanish Greyhound from a kill station in Spain; .
Material used:
- glass nuggets
- cast glass pieces
- glass scraps
- jack chain
- pre-tinned copper wire
- bevel glass
