Stained Glass • Fusing • Mosaics • Classes |
Made using Bullseye glass, this dimensional design was created in stages. Because of the shortage of yellow glass, the center of the daffodil is colored by hand. I used white streaky, sifted yellow powder on it, and tack fused it with fine yelllow frit in a thick-tapering-to-thin layer around the edge. The combinations of powders and frit produced the very delicate edge I wanted. The yellow center was slumped in one mold then draped over another to produce the shape. I tack fused the streaky white petals and detail frit, then slumped that section in a plate mold. The bottom layer is powder on fiber, with an olive green underneath, fully fused. The piece is put together with Hextal, enabling it to be displayed as a table centerpiece, or on the wall using a plate hanger. It is one of my favorite works.
