Waterfall, Halifax

This piece is 11" wide by 14" high without frame. It is framed in black and made to hang on your wall like a painting.  I worked from my original photo using a canvas of dense white Bullseye glass backed with clear Bullseye glass.  I started my piece using a sgraffito technique by sifting black frit powder on to the white base and then removing the frit to make my drawing and shading, thenit was full fused. I love the sgraffito technique as it lets me draw freely and intuitively.  This layer was done very subtly.  I then applied transparent coloured frit including the beautiful pink tones of the rocks which I mixed from several colours. This was full fused and then I applied a layer of opaque frit to create the detail of the leaves and a final full fusing.
