Wrightsville Beach

This is a glass collage which is a cross between a painting, a mosaic, and a resin piece.  I have lots of scrap left over from fused projects and stained glass projects.  Of course, they are always separated.  When there is extra room in the kiln, I fire the scrap pieces, and file them in either the stained glass or fused glass category.  The base for this work is a DaVinci Liquid Multi Media wood panel which has a 1/8 inch lip all the way around.  I first paint an underpainting on the wood panel (of course the real first thing is attaching the hanging mechanism which are D-rings 1/3 of the way down from the top with 50 weight wire).  For this 30" x 30" composition, the whole work was painted with acrylic paint.    Of course, there are small pieces of Austin Thin Films dichroic sprinkled throughout with their dichroic glass frit used for the golden fish.   The glue used was Weldbond - used sparingly!  After allowing 48 hours for everything to dry, I put a layer of resin on.  The resin used for this project was Envirotex because there are always coupons at Michael's and AC Moore.   I love making glass collages inbetween fused glass projects because they make for a nice break.
