Description:
This is the second piece in my series "Jellies." It is 15" wide by 8" high and is composed of two sheets of Spectrum 96 clear and one sheet of green glass highlighted with Austin Thin Films dichroic glass and Austin Thin Films System 96 dichroic rods fused onto strips of clear glass. After arranging the components in a star like arrangement, the work was full fused in a Skutt Clamshell kiln. For slumping, it was slumped very slowly (with a 30 minute hold at the 500 and 750 degree point) on a stainless steel bowl covered with 1" fiber blanket cut in irregular shapes on the edges where hopefully the glass would flow. This was topped with a circular piece of ceramic board and then a sheet of thin fire. Slumping was done in a Paragon Janus 27 kiln. It can be displayed both ways.
Material used:
- Spectrum 96 glass
- Austin Thin Film dichroic glass and rods
- ceramic fiber
- ceramic board
- thin fire paper
- stainless steel bowl
