Papa Podenco at the Rainbow Bridge

Warren Beards and Beverley Farmer shared their love for each other with the unloved and abandoned Podencos (Ibizan Hounds) of Spain when they formed the rescue Podenco Friends.  Over the years they rescued and rehomed hundreds of dogs and puppies throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and United States. Four of them live with me in Alaska.  Just over a year ago, Warrren died in his sleep, leaving Beverley to run the rescue alone.  Friends and admirers stepped forward to do whatever they could to memorialize Warren and help Beverley keep going.  I took a favorite photo of Warren with a rescued Podenco named Alaska, and hand painted an 8-inch clear glass square with EZ Fire enamels.  This was sintered and placed in between red, blue, purple, and yellow  glass rectangles to form a hanging panel.

This panel and another tribute to beloved dogs that had passed on were mailed to Beverley in Spain.  Sadly the box was crushed and returned without being delivered.  The four rectangles were broken, but the centerpiece was intact, as was the second panel. This piece will be rebuilt and another effort will be made to get it to Spain
