Tide's Coming In

American Avocets are graceful birds, elegantly balancing on their tall legs, often walking in shallow water accompanied by their own stunning reflection... Observing them feeding in flooded spring fields brought an inspiration for this piece. I don't live close to a sea but have always been fascinated by the tidal pools and atmosphere of a shoreline. My piece is called 'Tide's Coming In' and I created it as a seascape scene. The tide is coming in bringing with it all the bounty an Avocet may seek... The artwork is made with COE 96 glass, DIY frit and powders. It is meant as a wall piece, dimensions 13 " wide and 10 " high include its reclaimed wood frame. Creating of 'Tide's Coming In' provided me with an excellent opportunity to make my own frit using sifters, in exact colours needed for the piece.
