German Iris

Sometimes we don't have to look far for inspiration. Many of artists - gardeners can simply go out to the yard and while sipping hot morning beverage from our favorite cup we can let our garden provide us with countless subjects for our artwork. Here's a fused glass picture of a wonderfully ruffled German Iris bloom which started just like that, I couldn't resist creating its beauty in glass and preserving it that way for much longer than I could enjoy it in the garden. This floral art is done in COE 96 glass and powders, all detail was achieved through one only firing in a kiln. It was made as a surprise gift, a wall hanging artwork with dimensions suitable for its easy transport: 12" by 12" including the wooden frame.
