Red baroque fused bowl

This bowl was made using the ingenious Starfire bundle by Wardell Publications, which includes a draping mold, a foot casting mold, and stackable fiber foot rings (all of these items can also be purchased separately).  The foot is cast in the first firing (2nd photo).  In the second firing (3rd photo), the bowl drapes over the mold while the cast foot, supported by the fiber rings, lightly slumps down to fuse to the bottom of the bowl.  When done, simply cut away the fibre rings and Voila!... you have an elegant footed bowl to display.  Of course this bowl can also be made without a foot and look just as lovely, but I find that having the ability to add a foot in this manner adds another interesting dimension, changing the entire look of the piece.
