Christmas Soldier

Designed by Dione Roberts, from the Fall 2023 issue of Glass Patterms Quarterly.  My version is 12" tall (was limited by the size of my kiln). It is decorated with bits of stringers, noodles, and purchased murrines.  The facial features were painted on with Glassline enamel.
 

I chose to make it stand rather than hang it, so I designed the base of a clear glass disc on a slightly larger aventurine green disc, with cutouts (using a ring saw) for the soldier's feet and a supporting clear glass wedge behind, all secured together with 2-part clear epoxy.  He stands very straight and looks fabulous on a table beside our Christmas tree!
