Essence of Nature

0 loves
Description:

The whale tale is symbolic within many cultures, symbolizing sensitivity, strength, protection and wisdom, whilst encompassing peace, friendship and companionship.

This work is a portrayal of not only the complex nature of and the relationship between these mammals and man, but also of the status of Nature itself within the modern world today.

Representational of water and movement, the refractive properties of light passing through the three dimensional surface of stacked glass is also transformed by the internal reflections when responding to changes in lighting conditions and viewer position.

Many thanks for your tremendous support. The glass part of the sculpture is actually a stack of many long rectangular pieces of float/window glass.  Each layered piece has a cross section of the design cut only on one edge.  The other edge remains even where you are also able to view the refraction of the design through the stacked float glass. The cleanly cut lines of the float glass reflects and refracts the light as you move while viewing the sculpture, creating a movement of the image within the glass. I also work with stained glass, and in using my glass cutting skills was able to make this sculpture.  So keep up the good work. Cheers Heather

This piece is really awesome. I have only dabbled in copper foil stained glass (so far). How did you do this piece? How much would you charge for a piece like this.
