I have heard good and bad about this grinder. Personally I love it. If you are just starting out and can afford it - then go for it. Other less expensive grinders will do the job. It's sort of like the difference in driving a Ford Escort vs A Cadillac.

I only use ARCO wire for my work. It is by far the easiest to use. It is well tinned and keeps shiny after polishing. I use all the gauges from 14g thickest to 22g the thinnest.

Other Thoughts
I suggest buying 16 to start if you only want to buy one to try it. It can be used for most any application and can also be twisted if you need stronger wire. 14 g is good to use for hangers and 18 - 22 are best for trim. Use 24g only if you want very thin wire. (I have them all)

The water splashes - yes - but if you use the stick on splash guards they really do help. As far as how long the blade lasts - I do not use the saw for anything other than seemingly impossible cuts. I do not use the saw for ALL of my glass cutting and generally cut all the difficult cuts at one time (on the saw) and then take the saw out of the holder so it is not sitting in the water.

I have a leak somewhere that I cannot find. I have come back to an empty reservoir and a work surface of water!

The water pump is nice but has to be primed often. I did not receive the device mentioned in the user guide so I just suck on the straw!! Ewww

With a little practice this makes foiling very fast and easy! Don't give up if you don't get it right away. The extra effort to learn it is worth it!

SLIGHT learning curve and tiny pieces are best done by hand.

MUST use the right wheel for each size foil. VERY easy to change wheels and load foil.

Easy to bend - holds shape well after bending. Straightens easily. 14 AWG is good to use as a post. 18 & 20 AWG's are for looks only (like for filigree)

the ONLY thing I realized after buffing is that you can take the solder off and then you have copper showing through. My fault - not the wire

Best way to buy this product. Priced less than buying per 4 oz at supply stores.

Have found all patinas work best if you use them just after polishing and also apply with a small piece of paper towel instead of a brush.

when first applied it looks nothing like what you think it is going to look like but it matches the copper zinc perfectly. I guess I was thinking it was going to look like copper foil. Glad it doesn't though. Don't worry about it looking like it is coming off after polishing - it isn't.

Simple to use, it works! Lots of cutting blades. All the parts look pretty sturdy to me.

none - I have no complaints but this is the only bottle cutter I have ever used.

I almost did not purchase this cutter after reading the reviews online. I bought it; watched the FREE online video and commenced to trying it out. My first bottle was epic fail! But - I was impatient and was just tapping (banging) away on the bottle. All I got was a jagged edge and various runs. I don't think I got a good score either. The second cut (same bottle) I let the bottle sit and then plunged it in a cold water bath. Failed again. Then I decided to heat it up one more time. Ran out of time though and just put it under the cold water in the sink and the score ran. So now - with a new bottle - I let it heat up in the hot water, run it under cold running water and then back in the hot water. Comes right off nice and clean. Did it three more times just to make sure.

LOUD! Not easy to use both features without turning the base. Either the grinder is too strong or I am too weak - every now and then while using the disc, the glass scoots out of my hand! Really dangerous!!!!

Other Thoughts
Haven't quite figured out the water yet. I find that the drain fills pretty fast which leads me to believe that the grinder water is low. It seems hard to keep the disc wet without constantly "moving the water around." i.e. empty full drained water - refill reservoir. I like it okay but was more comfortable with my old grinder. Would be happy with LESS SPRAY!
