Product Description

Shape, bevel and polish like a pro! The Covington 12" Beveler/Grinder offers incredible versatility for cold-working glass. From shaping large surfaces, to grinding, shaping and polishing small pieces, this work-horse tool can be equipped with accessories to tackle any job.

A unique water sleeve allows water to come up through the center shaft and disperse from the middle of the diamond disk, plus dual overhead watersupply can be precision aligned, making it simple to get the proper flow of water where you need it. A durable aluminum water manifold controls the flow of water. Included with the grinder you receive a solid brass center plug to use during polishing when a central water source is not desired.

Easy to change magnetic discs allow you to progress from rough shaping to final polishing seamlessly. Designed to center over the brass center plug quickly, for fast changes, you'll also appreciate that the brass plug remains below the disc surface. The 12" flat plate is precision ground, then mounted to the motor shaft on bearings that are spaced 11" apart for exceptional rigidity and stability. The female shaft accepts a variety of 5/8"-11RH male fitting diamond discs and diamond accessories. An optional double-ended male fitting is also available for female thread fitting accessories. The brush edges allow large projects to pass unobstructed while containing spray.

Driven by a 1hp, 3 phase motor with variable speed control - even the toughest jobs won't bog this motor down. Variable speed control from 200 - 1000 rpm provides a wide working range ideal for all your grinding and polishing processes. Reversible motor direction for clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation.

The rugged welded steel chassis and removable side panels have heavy-duty powder coating for construction that lasts. The wash-down motor is designed specifically for use in wet environments. A 1" stainless steel shaft and stainless steel catch pan complete the water-friendly design for longevity and safe operation. Removable side panels make it easy to clean and maintain this unit.

Discs and accessories sold separately. Runs on 120v 15amp. 1 year manufacturer warranty excluding catch pan.

This grinder is available to be shipped via truck only - call or email for a freight quote.

Delphi Tip: Keep your grinder in top condition. Always remove magnetic discs and wipe down the disc base after each use. A light coating of WD-40 or another light machine oil can be applied to protect the disc base.

Pros : Easy set up and use. Good quality.
Cons : Expensive, but aren't all of the options?
Other Thoughts : Makes cold working much easier than renting space at the nearest glass shop. My Christmas present to self.

When and how did you get started in stained glass? Ive been interested in stained glass for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would sit in churches and watch the (often) biblical depictions come to life when a stray ray of sunlight cast its illumination our way. Sun shadows dancing. I dabbled in many media over the years, trying to find an outlet for some of the visions careening inside, but none of them took. Drawing, painting - even watercolours - no amount of professional training could guide my hand in a satisfactory way. But then there was the glass. I lived abroad for a few years, and wound my way through Europe on my way back to the States when I finished my Peace Corps Service. My last international destination was Paris, where one of my closest friends lives as an organist. Two beautiful autumn

Chances are, right now, in reading this blog post, youre avoiding an overdue task. I too was avoiding a laundry list of work-related tasks in writing this. Procrastination is a part of life, and its certainly always been a part of mine. As a teenager, my parents would accuse me of putting off everything from piano practice to math homework. Id vehemently deny their charges hissing back, I work better under pressure. The truth was, I often felt overwhelmed, under-productive and anxious. Over the years, Ive been able to combat my avoidance issues using 4 tools. The trick is constantly reminding myself of these actions, because they do not come naturally to me. 1. Just Say No. I say yes to everything. Need someone to head up that event? Sure. Want me to design 12 posters for the Car Wash? No problem. Take your kid to daycare? Of course.
