Product Description

Create with this stunningly different glass! Van Gogh features a smooth front surface and a gently textured reverse side that is coated with gorgeous color and sparkle. The durable coating will not chip when cutting and provides excellent opacity for making mosaics, stained glass boxes and more. All Van Gogh glass is handmade, which means actual glass may vary slightly from photo. Sold in 12" x 12" pieces.

Technical Information: Van Gogh glass is for use in stained glass and mosaics. Not recommended for backlit projects such as lamps and windows. Glass is not for use in kilns because it is both painted and silvered. Do not submerge or use harsh cleaners as it will damage the colored coating. Be mindful while grinding as a coarse bit may chip the backing. For best results use a fine grit grinder bit and gentle pressure. Mirror sealant can be applied to help protect the coating.

Pros : All the van gogh glass make beautiful mosaics! I didn't know until I saw it in person how stunning this glass is.
Cons : The back CAN flake; however I've found that if you make good cuts and use your breakers directly on the score, they break much cleaner. Take your time to do it right, and the result is fine!!
Other Thoughts : I mix van gogh with a clear matching colored glass in mosaic projects for beautiful variations. (I found a good way to foil the back of clear glass that is cheap and easy, using plumbers metal tape.)

Pros : Beautiful glass for mosaic and some stained glass use.
Cons : Have to be careful when cutting and grinding the glass, some backing will flake.
Other Thoughts : You need to be careful when cutting and grinding this glass, however, before using this glass I found it helpful to coat the back with a clear acrylic spray, this seemed to improve the flaking problem.
