  •   too thin
By on
Pros : I like having the print on the wrong side of the paper
Cons : you can only get one firing out of one piece. the old paper I was using I was able to get 2-3 firings
Other Thoughts : maybe I need more education on selecting the proper paper to do what I want.

  •   Love this stuff
By on
Pros : I love the way this fires. The backs of the pieces are nice and smooth. And..I wouldn't suggest this technique for large pieces, but sometimes I can get two/more firings out of this.
Cons : I have to cut it down for my kiln. But I save the pieces....makes for interesting patterns for unusual glass.

  •   excellent paper
By on
Pros : quick and easy to use. Easy clean up - no waiting for wash to dry. Cut to size I need. A bit higher cost then the cheaper liners but much better to use. Does not stick to glass.
Cons : cost
Other Thoughts : When I was getting ready to order and try liner paper instead of wash I went to the feedback section of the products and was glad I did. Excellent product - quick and easy to use!!

  •   The only paper to buy
By on
Pros : Love the ease of use and in some cases can use it a second time to protect when slumping candles. Also cheaper papers leave fumes in the kiln which can cause a fog appearance on the glass.
Cons : fairly expensive but does save time and hassle

  •   Bullseye Thinfire Shelf Paper (7405)
By on
Pros : This is a wonderful product to fuse or provide surface on kiln shelf or kiln floor that provides no texture on the glass bottom!
Cons : One time use only.
Other Thoughts : Have a mini vac or small brush and pan for clean-up on hand following firing of kiln.

  •   best fusing paper
By on
Pros : This paper is easy to cut and easy to clean away after firing. It leaves the bottom of your glass with a very nice, smooth finish
Cons : I have no cons
Other Thoughts : I feel it's important to keep the paper smooth and unwrinkled before using for more than one reason. ex-wrinkled paper on a tile can cause the glass to slide around--also-wrinkles under glass can affect the surface smoothness/texture of your glass. It's not hard to keep it smooth before use--just keep it slightly rolled like it usually comes in the mail. Clean us is not difficult either. After my work comes out of the kiln, I wipe away the fused paper with a damp paper towel to control any possible dust- and then brush everything away with the damp cloth.

  •   Thinfire Paper
By on
Pros : I use this paper when painting enamels on stained glass. I find that it can hold up to numerous firings and always keeps my work safe from kiln shelf issues. The paper also cuts well, which allows for sizing the paper to the projects and thus - less waste.
Cons : None
Other Thoughts : One really big advantage with this paper is that it allows your kiln fired pieces to expand and contract freely without getting caught on the bottom surface.

  •   Bulleseye Thinfire Shelf Paper
By on
Pros : This is still my favorite shelf paper. It provides the smoothest surface texture of all the products I've used and I've been fusing since the 80s. If I'm careful, sometimes I'm able to get a second firing out of it.
Cons : You do have to be very careful with clean up after it's used. I use a damp sponge to prevent it from getting in the air and use a respirator.
Other Thoughts : I wish it came in circles rather than square shapes, but I never waste the scraps. I use them for small jewelry items in my smaller kiln.

  •   Thinfire Paper
By on
Pros : Easy to cut and use. Clean up is easy also, I just brush it into the garbage. Leaves the glass that is against the paper very smooth.
Cons :
Other Thoughts : I always vacuum my kiln after firing just in case some of the paper fell to the bottom of the kiln.

By on
Pros : works well and inexpensive
Cons : none
Other Thoughts : If you are very very very careful you may be able to get two or three firings out of the sheet depending upon the type of project and how steady your hand is. Don't breath or sneeze or you will have fiber dust everyplace.

Pros : This stuff is amazing - extremely smooth back with no kiln wash. Easy to use, no mess. I get several firings from one sheet - just be careful when you remove the fused items and you can keep reusing.
Cons :
Other Thoughts : A bit pricey but totally worth it.

  •   Wouldn't be without it
By on
Pros : This makes fusing so much quicker and simpler. Just cut to size with regular scissors and you end with a shiny smooth back on you fused glass. Can be used twice if you remove the first with much care.
Cons : Do not overlap small pieces together under the one piece of glass or you will have a seam showing.

  •   Bullseye Shelf Paper
By on
Pros : The standard for shelf paper. I have used it for years. It cuts easily, performs very well, and can often be used twice, especially if the first firing is Tack Fuse. This saves a lot of money.
Cons : No cons.
Other Thoughts : The paper disintegrates so when cleaning the paper off the shelf, or sweeping up the paper bits that fly under the shelf, use a mask. Keep all scraps. They can be used many ways. Just do not overlap under a piece or you will end up with a crease in your piece after firing!!!

Pros : Love this paper. Makes fusing easy and there is no white residue left behind on back of bowls, cabochons, etc.
Cons : None yet.
Other Thoughts : It seems we're all on a tight budget at this time and I would love to be able to buy it in a smaller roll which would be easier to use at a more reasonable price.

  •   Bullseye Thinfire Shelf Paper
By on
Pros : This stuff leaves a silky smooth back to my glass.
Cons : This stuff is very expensive. If you do a high volume it may be cost effective but for the small time fuser it is cost prohibitive.
Other Thoughts : I have a round shelf so when I trim my shelf paper to fit the shelf I save all my scraps that are big enough to hold a pendant. This way I get the most for my money out of the product.

  •   Shelf paper
By on
Pros : This stuff is GREAT! I can cut a small piece just big enough for my project. Glass bottom is always smooth after firing. I use a shop vac to suck up the remains after removing my work. I always buy the 24"x24" sheets. GREAT STUFF!!
Cons : Cons? Hmmmmm, running out of paper and waiting for more to arrive? There are no cons..
Other Thoughts : I wish it were cheaper and I could buy by the roll.

Pros : This is much easier and faster than using kiln wash. And, if you let the pieces cool, you can reuse the shelf paper a couple of times.
Cons : Cost.
Other Thoughts : Don't breathe in the used shelf paper particles. Where a mask, or be very careful.

  •   Very convenient
By on
Pros : I love the convenience of having this paper pre-cut!!! I have a 24" kiln and it fits perfectly. It is also easier to handle than a huge roll. You can break down the pieces to be smaller without having to have a huge table to roll the paper out onto for cutting. It is WAY easier to store also. I love the print on the back that automatically shows you the correct side for firing. VERY HANDY
Cons : Does stick more to the back of glass than a prior thinfire paper I was using. I feel that it is only good for one firing (contrary to other reviews).
Other Thoughts : Great product! I will continue to use it even though it is more expensive, the convenience is worth it!

  •   What a step Up!
By on
Pros : I was trying to save money by using an economical brand of shelp paper and decided on a whim to try Bullseye's thinfire shelf paper and it was well worth it. Although it's a bit more expensive, you will love the results...a nice smooth finish on the back of your piece and absolutely no residue. I was also getting detrification on some of my pieces every time I fired a batch and now realize that is was from the cheaper shelf paper burnoff, because now that I've switched to Bullseye thinfire, absolutely no white patches on my pieces at all (after at least 10 firings)!
Cons : Like other customers, I wish there was a smaller roll available at a more reasonable price.
Other Thoughts : This is the first product in a long time that I've taken a chance on and I am completely satisfied with it.

  •   Thinfire Shelf Paper
By on
Pros : I love Thnfire Shelf Paper. It eliminates the need to kilnwash shelves which can be messy and time consuming. Shelves are ready for firing when I need them. I just cut off a piece the size of the project that I'm firing and I'm all set to fire.
Cons : I have not discovered any cons for Thinfire.
Other Thoughts : When I first discovered Thinfire I thought I would use it only occasionally. Because of how easy it is to use I now use it every time I fire.
