  •   Perfect glass saw!!!
By on
Pros : This glass saw can do any cut! I love the slim blade best, but have used all. When it comes time to change blade it is easy and not so technical that you need an instructor to help. It is my go to saw but I need to remind myself that just because my ring saw can make the cuts I have to decide if the cut is stable enough for my project. Also love the ease that the saw comes off for hand cuts! I think this is my most valued tool next to my hand cutter!
Cons : It does more complicated cuts than I can use! Smart saw!
Other Thoughts : Thanks Taurus!!!

  •   Essential tool but limited on thicker glass
By on
Pros : Simple to set up, operate, and clean Works very well on 3mm glass
Cons : Slow on 6mm glass and didn’t cut through thicker pattern bars (which why I bought it to begin with)
Other Thoughts : Excellent for the price if you have limited space and are working on small projects.

  •   Great addition to my workshop
By on
Pros : Super easy to set up. Pretty good written instructions. Good video.
Cons : The little light at the cutting area doesn't help a whole lot.
Other Thoughts : I had never used a ring saw before. I was a bit intimidated to try but the setup was so easy and the videos I watched made it look like something I could do so I dove right in. I cut out a 5" heart as my first project. I knew how to handle glass, not to rotate it, because of the warnings in the documentation and videos. It was still tempting to rotate the glass but I did pretty well and I ended up with a usable glass heart! I was very encouraged to keep using this saw for a number of shapes that are too hard to cut by hand. Thank you to Delphi for their FB live presentation of this saw!

Pros : Having purchased mine a few months ago, I have been impressed with the quality compared to my previous glass cutting saw. Saves on glass wastage and a real timesaver!
Cons : The saw does splash more water than I expected. Hopefully the hole reducers purchased will help ameliorate that problem.

  •   Fine details and Wonky cuts
By on
Pros : This saw was extremely easy to set up I use distilled water. I am now able to cut pieces that would otherwise be impossible to cut by hand. Think, the outline of Kentucky, or extremely deep set curves- I've cut it all with this tool. Very neat, also safe.
Cons : Splash guard could be a little wider, seemed like an afterthought.
Other Thoughts : well worth the investment. It paid for itself through two crazy cut panels I created.

  •   Taurus 3 Ring Saw is a gamechanger
By on
Pros : accurate cutting ability, easily cuts curved pieces of glass. Less waste of glass by making perfect cuts the first time. The unit is light and portable, and is reasonably priced.
Cons :
Other Thoughts : Cutting glass with the old "scratch and snap" method is a good way to begin your journey as a stained glass artist. Although I still use this method for cutting glass in a straight line, I have found that for more complex cuts, the taurus 3 ring saw brings my creative talents to a whole new level. When designing a new concept for an original glass piece, the ring saw makes anything possible! This tool has enabled me to become an award winning stained glass artist!

By on
Pros : It's great for cutting those pieces that you struggle to cut by hand
Cons : It does take some time getting used to. And it takes more time to cut the pieces
Other Thoughts : You need to remember that it cuts more glass away, because of the wider saw blade

  •   Amazing saw
By on
Pros : easy to cut premarked pieces with minimal to no chips; easy to set up and clean; super portable
Cons : would like to see a longer saw arm, if possible
Other Thoughts : I found cutting pieces with the saw v/s the typical glass cutter to be more precise, less waste and practically eliminated the use of the grinder because the pieces look as if they were ground down after sawing. This is a time saver for me.

  •   My go to saw
By on
Pros : This is my go-to saw! I have been using this saw for at least 15 years. With the different blades, I have cut 2mm, 3mm, and 6mm glass! I rely on my Taurus 3 Ring Saw more than any other tool in my shop. If this one ever has to go away, I’ll definitely replace it with another Taurus 3 with absolutely no hesitation. Also, the instruction video is a real treat to watch! I laughed a lot while watching and learning how to use it.
Cons : None for me!
Other Thoughts : I wish all my tools were as easy to use and maintain!

  •   Amazing!
By on
Pros : Easy to use
Cons : None that I've discovered so far
Other Thoughts : This is the most amazing tool I've ever owned! I was able to master its use pretty quickly and cut any shape glass I desire. No more worrying about inside curves!!! I can't wait to try it with things outside stained glass like tile...maybe even a new granite countertop? I think the sky is the limit with the versatile tool.

  •   Amazing tool
By on
Pros : Makes cutting designs so much easier. It is easy to guide glass while cutting and turning. I love this equipment, it has made my love of working with glass so much easier!
Cons : My only con is - you have to be mindful of organizing your cutting since you will need to switch to a thinner blade for dichroic and some other glass. It is easy but not real convenient to switch blades back and forth.
Other Thoughts : If you are thinking of adding something to your arsenal to make glass cutting easier - this is the thing to purchase. It is some of the best money I have spent in my glass working career! I actually have two of them - one is dedicated to finer and dichroic glass!

By on
Pros : Cuts from any angle. Works well with adjuncts and lots of attention.
Cons : Light is poor. Bearings wear fast. Lots of splash. Saw body and blade assy loosens over time.
Other Thoughts : Works okay with many fixes. Extra lights. Splash guards. Additional measures to secure saw body. Still, it uses lots of bearings.

  •   EASY & AMAZING
By on
Pros : - Can cut glass in any angle. - Cuts like butter and just needs a little pressure from you, but that should be expected. - The platform where you place your glass to cut is nice and big. - The instruction manual that comes with it is very helpful. - As someone who is not good at cutting stained glass by hand, this was a life saver. Whether you're just starting out or a vet, you can 100% use this saw.
Cons : It is somewhat noisy, but when you're cutting stained glass with a bit, you shouldn't expect it to be super quiet. If I had to explain the noise level, if you had your TV on at a normal volumn you wouldn't be able to hear it. Not recommended for homes with sleeping babies. For a saw that cuts this well, honestly I wouldn't even list the noise level as a reason to not buy it.
Other Thoughts : Ya'll, you're gonna get a little wet. This takes a lot of water in order to work and I would HIGHLY suggest any electronics be a good distance away. Don't have your phone or laptop sitting next to it. Also, this thing is pretty big. You're going to need like, a medium table just to hold it. Lastly, 3 prong cord, just a heads up. Buy this saw.

  •   A worthwhile investment, for the serious artist or
By on
Pros : Easy to use, Versatile, Precise, Lightweight, Makes quick work most any cut, and of ultra tough cuts (I still love and prefer to hand-cut, but I got this specifically for big, super severe cuts, so I could keep my designs exactly how I wanted them, and also not have the stress of potentially shattering a larger piece just because of my creative stubbornness), Cuts through other materials like metal for frames and wood (of certain thickness), Great for sparking imagination, Saves glass!
Cons : Plastic outer components (but that does make sense, metal would very heavy, and probably even more expensive, I just wish it felt a little studier for the price), Pattern lines 'wash' off without specific application, Can get pretty messy, Takes a good while to get used to - it doesn't have the feel of a grinder or a typical saw, so you have to really get the feel for it, You'll still need to run most pieces through a grinder (at least some edges, in my experience), Can snap off small corners if you're not very careful and learn how to maneuver it properly, Makes me feel like I'm "cheating" in the glass cutting process, hahaha
Other Thoughts : Okay, so, it definitely has its cons, HOWEVER, I still love my ring saw! I definitely recommend a few things - get a foot pedal to attach to the power cord so you can control the saw! It made a huge difference in precision. Also, use a GOLD Sharpie to mark your patterns, since they act like paint markers, THEN leave your pattern piece in place until the gold ink dries, or set the piece back down, and outline it again over the gold ink with a black fine tip Sharpie. I know that seems like a pain, but it's worth it. It's the only way, so far, that I've figured out how to keep pattern lines from flooding off the glass, because the saw can create quite a bit of backsplash. The black fine line give you the precise place to follow next to, the gold makes it visible and helps it stick. Remember, the saw blades cuts OUT and removes a line of glass the width of the saw blade, unlike hand-cutting, which doesn't remove any glass. Other than that, practice and experiment! It's worth it. :)

  •   Awesome Tool
By on
Pros : cuts great; way more quiet then other saws I have used; love the light!; a great tool for my studio
Cons : cannot think of anything
Other Thoughts : The water splashes - yes - but if you use the stick on splash guards they really do help. As far as how long the blade lasts - I do not use the saw for anything other than seemingly impossible cuts. I do not use the saw for ALL of my glass cutting and generally cut all the difficult cuts at one time (on the saw) and then take the saw out of the holder so it is not sitting in the water.

Pros : I just love this saw so much, that I bought a 2nd one. It's easy to use, very flexible and versatile to do intricate cuts. The videos are a bit like the Nutty Professor, but gets the point across in how to cut, maintain, replace the blade on the saw.....
Cons : The cut is a bit thick, so it takes some getting use to.
Other Thoughts : I prefer this saw over my other band saws.

By on
Pros : fast precise cuts, intricate cuts, quiet, easy to clean.
Cons : not really a con, but I do wish there was more room between the blade and motor it would make it easier to cut larger pieces.
Other Thoughts : I've been using the Taurus 3 for about 5 months I really love the saw; It's made a huge differance in my fused glass projects I now have more options for intricate cuts on a piece. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Taurus 3 saw.

  •   Best glass saw I have ever had
By on
Pros : I have been using Gemini saws for 20 years. When my most recent Taurus II.2 bit the dust I purchased the Taurus 3. Wow! What a huge improvement over the old saw. Immediately it was noticably quieter than my old saws. And it cuts so much faster and smoother than any saw I have ever had. I also found it much easier to clean since the saw detaches from the tub. I have not yet needed to change the blade but from watching the video instructions it appears to be much less effort than with the II.2. The instructional video that came with the saw is a scream! It won't win any academy awards but It is informative and entertaining; beats the heck out of reading an instruction manual!
Cons : Cost is still pretty steep.
Other Thoughts : Wish I had gotten this saw a long time ago instead of limping along with my old saw which had served me well but had seen better days.

Pros : More precise cuts, cutting shapes that would be impossible by hand without making more pieces or lines in areas that you don't want pieced. Shapes like doves, flowers, etc are easy to cut & I find there is less grinding using the Taurus Saw. One of the best purchases I have made!
Cons : N/A
Other Thoughts : I just bought the separable blade to experiment more with different projects....get more creative!

Pros : Have had my Taurus for the past 3 years. Love it. Less unwanted waste of glass, more accuracy and a savings of 6hrs of my time per lamp shade project.

Pros : I think the best addition to my studio has been this saw. I suppose a purist wouldn't approve, but I save glass and aggravation by taking my difficult cuts to the saw. I've had mine for 4 years and am on the second blade.
Cons : The replacement blades are expensive. However, if you watch for them on sale and take care to use your saw correctly, the expense isn't really so bad.

  •   Easy to use
By on
Pros : It is a great product and easy to use and operate.
Cons : The plastic cover tends to cloud up with water and make it difficult to see where cutting and the light on the unit is not very bright.

  •   Make imposible possible!
By on
Pros : Like it a lot. Some glass can be frustrating when cutting very concave curves. This saw will save you time and glass since you will get the cut right away without needing to grind instead of breaking expensive glass and spending a lot of time grinding to complete the cut. Instructionons are clear and easy to follow.
Cons : It is noisy, but i use it in an open space. I will recommend to use vaseline or stick in product so the mark does not erase with the water. I admit it is pricy, but for me pays when I can make the impossible cuts
Other Thoughts : Look for it on sale and you will not regret it.

Pros : The capability for intricate and convoluted cutting is wonderful allowing for new, fantastic creative endeavors. It helped to bring my visualizations to fruition!
Cons : The first Taurus 3, was clearly defective in operation from the get go. I've used this model without problems previously. After three months of fairly heavy use, the new one is stellar!
Other Thoughts : As a side note: Gemini needs to produce a better instructional video.

Pros : Great saw, but use the mega blade instead of the omni direction blade.

  •   Awesome customer service, best tool ever
By on
Pros : This tool is the most important one in my kit, I love it. It's fun to use and makes me look like a pro with zero experience. Mine broke the first week, but it comes with a 3 year warranty.
Cons : Well, it did break the first week out of the box. But again, they fixed it quick.
Other Thoughts : I love my ring saw, and it has taken my new-to-stained-glass, beginner learning curve to "looking pro" overnight, literally. I highly recommend it!

  •   Taurus Ring Saw
By on
Pros : Cuts in all directions, and doesn't break the glass at the tips of patterns.
Cons : Blades only last 2-8 hours and are expensive. Beautiful machine, but not worth the blades.
Other Thoughts : What good is a machine, if you can't use it?

  •   Great Saw!
By on
Pros : I love the multi-directional ability and the fact that water doesn't spray everywhere.
Cons : The saw blade just snapped in two after about two hours of use. Not sure why.
Other Thoughts : The DVD that comes with the saw needs to be made without all the silliness. The guy on the DVD is really annoying. We really just want to be shown the features of the saw without all the slapstick. Please remake the DVD!

  •   need extra blade kit on hand
By on
Pros : great saw for doing the detail work, cuts through any thickness of glass with no trouble, almost like cutting baslsa with a wood saw
Cons : the work surface is small and will not cut a 12 x 12 piece of glass, the blade will break if stresses to far, i cannot get the 60 hours of cutting they say you are supposed to, recommend having a spare on the shelf to continue working, the water is recycled okay, but the bits of glass collect at the bottom, and meed to be washed out weekly, ear protection is recommended, very loud, i use mine out back in a covered patio
Other Thoughts : need to have some thing to cover the marks on the glass (I use school glue) to protect against the water, it will wash away the lines even if you permanent marker, and let dry

  •   expensive piece of plastic
By on
Pros : It cuts.
Cons : Most of the parts are made of plastic. Sure, when it's working, it's good, but way too many cheap parts are used. I've replaced the groove grommets a couple of times this past year and the belts. Now the drive gear cracked and the metal part of the drive gear is practically welded on. I called up gemini who told me that when the drive gear gets warm, as it does with normal use, the aluminum part of the drive gear swells and basically welds itself onto the steal drive. She told me to use a pulley puller or cut it off. Trying to find a puller that small is almost impossible. Cutting it off is impossible as there is nowhere near enough room to even get a metal cutter for a dremel bit in there. The machine is also super loud and the face shield makes it so you can't even see what your cutting. Overall, poor construction of plastic for too high of a price. Metal parts would be nice.

  •   An Indispensable and Wonderful Tool!
By on
Pros : I love this saw! The circular movement is natural, it cuts like a champ, and is giving me really beautiful results. My friends and family comment on how my glass looks much more professional than before. If you can't afford this saw, then save your money until you can. It truly is a pleasure to use, and it opens up all sorts of more difficult cuts. I don't know how many sheets of glass I wasted before this saw when trying to cut inside curves. This saw makes that completely effortless, reducing my scrap glass to practically nothing at all. I enjoy using this saw, I am proud of the results I make with it, and am very glad I own one.
Cons : The included tutorial videos are really annoying. They really, really try hard to be funny (they're in a 1950s "Mr. Wizard" style, complete with a nerd in a lab coat with thick glasses), and they are anything but.
Other Thoughts : This saw will take you from basic glass maker with acceptable, amateur results to intermediate and advanced glassmaker with really superior results that you will be proud of.

  •   unhappy customer
By on
Pros : cuts glass great! can do intricate designs. USA made.
Cons : have to take shield off, water splashes on it, so you cant see where your cutting even with the light. wear a smock or an old long sleeve shirt. wear your goggles when you take the shield off.
Other Thoughts : I gave it one star because I am having problems with the belt and the blade. this will be my second time sending in this machine. I only have been able to run it a couple of hours, then the blade breaks. I have already been cut once from the piece of blade flying off the machine. unfortunately, Gemini, keeps sending me a blade and belt thinking this will solve the problem. you can clearly see the belt is rubbing on the plastic. you can smell the rubber burning as well. they are giving me a hard time about replacing this machine for a new one. this machine is expensive, so are the blades. so think twice before you purchase such as expensive piece of machinery. just because it is USA made, does not mean its quality material stuff. clearly this is a lemon. they need to take responsibility for this. i'm losing money instead of making it!

Pros : I love it. My bandsaw is now collecting dust. Wish I ordered the thin blade right from the start. The standard blade is a little too wide.

By on
Pros : I love this saw!! My previous saw threw water everywhere and cleanup on this saw is amazingly easy. I also love the round blade which allows me to create very intricate shapes, which I could not do before. Would highly recommend this saw to any one.
Cons : I have nothing negative to say about this saw, it fits all of my needs.

Pros : You can cut thick pattern bars and do some neat things with them.
Cons : Loud, messy, inaccurate. Also leaves a rough grind on the edges that does not fire out in the kiln.
Other Thoughts : Not worth buying - mine is functioning as an expensive shelf in my studio.

  •   Greatest Stained Glass tool
By on
Pros : This is the greatest tool for cutting glass. I've been able to cut glass more precisely than ever before. I wouldn't trade my Taurus Ring saw for anything.
Cons : It's a little difficult getting all the glass dust residue out of the basin because of the various divots, but everything else far out weighs this.
Other Thoughts : I discovered putting a small amount of dish washing soap and ice in the water makes the saw cut even better.

  •   Buyer Beware
By on
Pros : I have had my saw for about 2 years, and the only posative thing I can say about it is that it makes cuttng intricate shapes easy - WHEN its working.....
Cons : The saw has about 4 hours of use on it and so far I have had problems with almost every aspect of the saw. The tension problem is definately NOT resolved, at least not for me. The saw makes a huge amount of noise, even more when it is not working properly. What I do not understand is why I can go to home depot and get a tile saw for less than $100 with a metal casing and quality parts, but I spent more on this saw and have had nothing but problems with the cheap platic construction.
Other Thoughts : Although the idea of a ring saw is excellent, I think I will get a Band saw next go around. I would definately NOT recomend this tool to a friend.

  •   Great Tool
By on
Pros : This tool does all it says and more . It can be removed from base and brought to a difficult to reach project. Keep up with maintenance . Check belt after heavy use. Check if tightening is needed. I have not had any serious repairs , nor have I had to replace my blade. It is a irreplaceable tool in my studio. You must let the tool decide the pace ...easy does it. The reward will be worth it. I have read in other reviews that the noise is a problem....I disagree. Take note that it has a motor and motors make noise, but it is much improved over the Taurus II . I do not find the noise level to be excessive with this tool.
Cons : It splashes a lot, but you need the water to keep the blade cool and glass from getting thermal shocked. Wear an apron ...problem solved.

  •   This saw is great!
By on
Pros : This saw has the flexibility to cut designs from glass and with a change of blades can slice murrini. I can't imagine how I would slice murrini without this saw.
Cons : It's loud.
Other Thoughts : The video that comes with the saw is great. The saw does not do any damage to your hands if you touch the blade.

By on
Pros : I love my new saw! It cuts through glass like a hot knife through butter!
Cons : It is a bit hard to see with the shield down. I just wear my safety glasses.
Other Thoughts : I recommend this saw to any one who does glass work. It's awesome!

  •   Great saw for home/hobby use
By on
Pros : I like the saw for cutting intricate shapes. Saves time and money when you consider the breakage factor when cutting manually sometimes (although you should know how to cut glass by hand and not rely on the saw).
Cons : The shield makes it difficult to see your work. I took my shield off and use safety glasses instead. The parts can be pricey to replace.
Other Thoughts : When cutting from a pattern, the DVD suggests using rubber cement to attach your paper pattern to the glass. This works great and peels off quickly without leaving a residue behind. I just make sure that I have a nice coat over the whole paper pattern piece so it doesn't disintegrate in the water when cutting. Makes seeing where you are cutting easier too if you use a contrasting color paper for your pattern.

  •   LOVE this saw!
By on
Pros : This saw has increased my creativity--you wouldn't believe the detail that you can cut in any glass. Cuts cleanly, great detail
Cons : This saw is LOUD and it is a bit difficult to see those small pieces at the blade area. Expect to get a bit wet while using the saw too
Other Thoughts : I DO recommend this saw to everyone--it's FUN to cut glass with it and makes me believe that the possibilities are endless.

  •   Love it!
By on
Pros : This was the second glass saw I tried. My first was a bandsaw which I hated. This saw was easy to use and enabled me to make those formerly "impossible" cuts. It's compact size was a welcome addition to my small studio. The instructional video was easy to follow but practice was the best teacher.
Cons : The saw was very noisy. The blades don't seem to last long and are expensive to replace.
Other Thoughts : As a starving artist, I thought long and hard about making this somewhat expensive purchase. It was worth the money!

  •   Great saw
By on
Pros : This is the favorite tool of our studio. We use it a lot and it's still like new. You just need to take it ease and let the saw dictate the cutting speed. It’s perfect for 90 or 96 with window glass you will have to cut slower or small pieces or glass will be all over you. We use it as a grinder for details too!
Cons : You might need to replace the belt if you use it a lot.

  •   My favorite SAW!
By on
Pros : This saw is a terrific tool for the glass studio! I also have a Diamond Laser Band saw, but the Taurus cuts RINGS around the band saw (Pun totally intended!) Taurus saw can cut in any direction, whereas the band saw only cuts in 1 direction. Comes with a DVD of instructions and cool hints for cutting more than 1 layer at a time. I LOVE IT!!! FAST! FUN! EASY!!!
Cons : My only complaint is the LOUD noise.

Pros : Cuts quick and clean, lighted area is nice, large working platform is good.
Cons : Louder than most other saws, hard to see through guard, raise guard for better vision.
Other Thoughts : Would buy again and recommend to others. Future modifications concerning noise and line of vision will help.

  •   Not so sure
By on
Pros : Easy to clean, nice cuts Customer service is very friendly and has so far solved my many problems. Great hobby saw.
Cons : Hard to see if you are cutting small pieces. Blade moves a lot, if you put the stabilizer blade on it does help, but now it is even harder to see. manual is outdated, and information is wrong. The issue with the tension arm is not solved properly, at least not in my case. Light cloggs up with glass and light dissipates. Parts do not last at all and are very expensive to replace. I am on my second saw in less than 2 years and will have to call geminini tomorrow and I fear i have to get a new drive gear... If I have to send the saw back I will be without a saw for at least 3 weeks!!! Or having to buy a new one to use as these fail. With a 3 year warranty I should not be asked to send it back without a replacement. These are tools that are necessary for many of us to work and produce, that is hard if you don't have major tools.
Other Thoughts : I have not tried other saws but will shortly as I feel I can't trust this saw and need to have a backup to be able to work instead of using time trying to figure out what is wrong and change expensive parts that should have worked better. I feel this is a great hobby saw, but it does not live up to its promises in a busy studio.

  •   Only saw I'd use - I'm on #2!
By on
Pros : Great saw and instructional video. This is my 2nd ring saw (had the original Taurus) and it goes, goes, goes! Worth it for tough cuts but I wouldn't cut a whole project with it. Know how to cut glass first- don't compensate by buying a saw. The saw is not a cure-all. Plan to get wet (even with hole reducers) and wear safety glasses. The shield is good protection but I like more protection than that. Adding the blade stabilizer was a really good idea. KEEP IT CLEAN!
Cons : Noisy and if you use it a lot, expect a fair amount of regular maintenance and replacement parts including blades $$.
Other Thoughts : Also like the accessory kit and different blades available.
