Pros
This new design---slightly flared at the bottom---is a great improvement in this mold. Mold releases easily and makes a nice finished product. The old design (I purchased my molds in 2008) NEVER released, even when I kiln-washed the mold AND placed a double layer of fiber paper under the glass.
Cons
None
Other Thoughts
Take the added precaution of using a double layer of fiber paper under the glass even though the mold is kiln-washed.
Pros
This grinder has met &defeated every challenge i've put it through!
Cons
Had trouble keeping sponge in place & wet enough
Other Thoughts
With a little brainstorming I got rid of any water-slinging & now have constant flow to diamond bit & sponge.
Pros
Low price, simple to use and clean up, tiny size - - it's cute :)
Cons
Work area might be too tiny for larger projects.
Other Thoughts
I love this grinder! I've had mine for about 5 years and it works like it's brand new. The small size is perfect for beginners, it's easy to use and store, and cleanup's a breeze. It's perfect for the occasional hobbyist like myself because it provides great payoff with minimal investment, plus it can use standard bits (2fer pack to save even more moola). All in all, I love my gryphette and see no reason to upgrade to a bigger more expensive grinder. Try it, you'll love it too :)
Pros
Great for dichroic glass to prevent chipping PLUS I use to fix fired pieces before fire polish. Very easy,no need to use hand sanders, pieces come out fantastic.

The Toyo cutter is so far superior to the lesser expensive brand. I have used the same head for about 5 months now, and it still cuts like new. I will never go back.
