Create perfect strips quickly and easily. The Strip Pro attaches directly to the Cutter's Mate Slide Bar (not included). The Strip Pro offers grid adapters and a CSG-10 carbide cutting head. Oil by dip method if desired. Also features a 24" zero marked ruler for accurate convenient cuts (see image below) and an Omni-Directional Glass Stop. Works with the Cutter's Mate slide bar, 23" Slide Bar (item # 5129) and the 35" Slide Bar (item# 5130) for longer scores.

Other Thoughts : Makes it so easy to cut strips. I haven't mastered cutting more complicated shapes. It is hard to see exactly where the cutting wheel is cutting. There is a learning curve.

Pros : Best investment I’ve made. I purchased both the standard and long rail to cut larger pieces of glass for the studio and use it all the time. Straight cuts every time

I got interested in stained glass by admiring the work of my wifes uncle this past Thanksgiving Holiday and am taking a class after the first of the year. I am at a crossroads however as my wifes uncle prefers the pen type cutter and my instructor prefers the "pistol grip" type cutter. My instructor states that better control is achieved with the pistol grip versus the pen type. These two opinions come from people who have been working with stained glass for about 12 years. I would like a non biased opinion to help make a decision on purchasing a cutter since I would like to spend enough money to get the best as I believe that a good cutter would make the hobby much more enjoyable. When and how did you get started in stained glass? Ive been interested in stained glass for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would sit in churches and watch the (often) biblical depictions come to life when a stray ray of sunlight cast its illumination our way. Sun shadows dancing. I dabbled in many media over the years, trying to find an outlet for some of the visions careening inside, but none of them took. Drawing, painting - even watercolours - no amount of professional training could guide my hand in a satisfactory way. But then there was the glass. I lived abroad for a few years, and wound my way through Europe on my way back to the States when I finished my Peace Corps Service. Delphi Glass and ArtFire, the premier marketplace for handmade crafts, announce a new online art contest. The Ring of Fire Artist Challenge is open to all artisans. Entries are being accepted now. Contest ends June 30 and winners announced July 9, 2010. Following its annual festivities for National Art Glass Month, Delphi has organized another online event with the help of its partner ArtFire. The first annual Ring of Fire Artist Challenge is designed for all artisans of all crafts and abilities, inviting them to use common art supplies in new and creative ways.
