Pros : Does the job and I feel confident when washing after I solder.

Cons :

Other Thoughts : My lead levels are normal and I believe it's due to taking precautions like washing with D-Lead after every soldering session.

I am making pattern 8054 Roses & Ribbons which has a size of 24" x 18". Should this project be framed with H-lead or zinc? The project will be placed into a wooden frame upon completion. Perhaps I have been reading too much, I have come across a few articles where repair work has had to be done on windows because the zinc could not stand up to the task and bowing of the glass, etc. resulted. For this project I am using the lead method instead of copper foil. HELP. Dont let articles like these discourage you; there are several reasons why this may be happening and all can be prevented. Its possible for a panel which measures more than 18" to 24" vertically to buckle regardless of whether it is framed in lead or zinc. First of

When and how did you get started in stained glass? Ive been interested in stained glass for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would sit in churches and watch the (often) biblical depictions come to life when a stray ray of sunlight cast its illumination our way. Sun shadows dancing. I dabbled in many media over the years, trying to find an outlet for some of the visions careening inside, but none of them took. Drawing, painting - even watercolours - no amount of professional training could guide my hand in a satisfactory way. But then there was the glass. I lived abroad for a few years, and wound my way through Europe on my way back to the States when I finished my Peace Corps Service. My last international destination was Paris, where one of my closest friends lives as an organist. Two beautiful autumn

Id like to start working in lead came. I already have tools for copper foil, what else do I need? To work in lead came there are a few additional tools and supplies that will be needed or helpful. Start with a good basic instruction book or DVD. Try checking out Stained Glass Basics if you prefer a book. Some of it will be review, but it also has a good section on lead came and repairs. Traditional Leaded Glass Windows or Get the Lead Out are two of the many DVDs available at Delphi. Both are informative and walk you through the process of building a lead came panel. Add a few basic tools to your workshop. The first is a pair of lead nippers or a lead knife, which are used to cut the came accurately for a good fit. A lead stretcher such as our Stanton Lead
