Product Description

Say Goodbye to Hand Fatigue!
Finally a super portable cutter that practically scores glass by itself! The Cutter's Mate Mini Starter Kit has a foam cushioned, weighted handle that eliminates the strain of grasping a traditional slim cutter. The weighted handle rotates 360º and applies all the pressure you'll need to effortlessly produce a perfect score. It's so easy, you can even score glass while sitting down!

The easy-glide system keeps the cutter head at a constant 90º angle to the glass, practically eliminating bad breaks. Quick, easy set-up for right or left handed use. The 11" clear Lexan cutter arm can score a straight line up to 22" long and swings out of the way when not in use.

Linear scoring module includes 8" zero marked ruler with inches on one side and metric measurements on the other. 1" wide straight edge is made out of Clear Lexan which also includes the ruler stabilizer.

Includes:

  • 2 Waffle Grids
  • 13-1/2" Slide Bar
  • 2 Grid Adapters
  • Cutter Arm Attachment
  • Oil-fed carbide cutting head
  • Linear scoring module

For even more versatility, easily expand your work surface with additional Waffle Grid sections #5425 (sold separately).

  •   Cutter's Mate Mini

Pros : Very easy to setup and learn! I have wrist and mobility problems in my right hand that makes cutting with regular tools very difficult and painful. Yesterday I cut out 100+ pieces with no pain or problems! It creates great score lines with minimal effort since the handle is weighted.
Cons : Larger than other cutting tools, but overall doesn't take up a ton of space.

  •   Worthwhile purchase

Pros : Small size for those with limited space. Easy to assemble. Great for beginners working with stained glass.
Cons :
Other Thoughts : Just started working with stained glass and have been pretty overwhelmed with the learning curve for scoring and cutting glass. Worried about wasting expensive glass. This little machine has taken a huge load off my shoulders. I have only used it a few times but am extremely pleased and it makes me unafraid of continuing to learn while not wasting glass. I would recommend this to everyone, especially beginners.

When and how did you get started in stained glass? Ive been interested in stained glass for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would sit in churches and watch the (often) biblical depictions come to life when a stray ray of sunlight cast its illumination our way. Sun shadows dancing. I dabbled in many media over the years, trying to find an outlet for some of the visions careening inside, but none of them took. Drawing, painting - even watercolours - no amount of professional training could guide my hand in a satisfactory way. But then there was the glass. I lived abroad for a few years, and wound my way through Europe on my way back to the States when I finished my Peace Corps Service. My last international destination was Paris, where one of my closest friends lives as an organist. Two beautiful autumn

I got interested in stained glass by admiring the work of my wifes uncle this past Thanksgiving Holiday and am taking a class after the first of the year. I am at a crossroads however as my wifes uncle prefers the pen type cutter and my instructor prefers the "pistol grip" type cutter. My instructor states that better control is achieved with the pistol grip versus the pen type. These two opinions come from people who have been working with stained glass for about 12 years. I would like a non biased opinion to help make a decision on purchasing a cutter since I would like to spend enough money to get the best as I believe that a good cutter would make the hobby much more enjoyable. Thanks for your time. Selecting a cutter is a
